Frankston City Council is calling on state and federal election candidates to throw their support behind a series of key projects aimed at uplifting vulnerable residents, enhancing infrastructure, and strengthening community connections.
According to RPP FM, the Council is seeking funding across several priority areas, including:
- Emergency relief funding to bolster vital support services such as Community Support Frankston, which delivers assistance to those facing hardship.
- Revitalisation of the Nepean Boulevard Precinct, a project intended to rejuvenate the area and create a vibrant, accessible community space.
- A $3 million investment in the Bruce Park Pavilion Redevelopment, which would provide upgraded facilities for local sporting and community groups.
A major focus is also on active transport infrastructure, with the Council requesting $11.7 million to connect key cycling and pedestrian routes across Frankston and into neighbouring municipalities. The plan includes five major links that have already been designed, with $6 million in local funds already committed.
Mayor Kris Bolam said the proposals represent a significant opportunity to support infrastructure that will shape the community for generations to come.
“We’re not just talking about footpaths and pavilions – we’re talking about long-term community wellbeing and access,”
Cr Bolam said.
“This is a chance to back transformative projects that build resilience and connection.”
Advocacy group Bicycle Network echoed the sentiment, saying better bike and pedestrian paths translate directly to better health, improved access, and stronger community links.
Frankston’s message to election candidates is clear: support is needed to help get the city moving — safely, actively, and into the future.
