Cranbourne North – Five men have been arrested following an attempted home invasion in Cranbourne North on Tuesday night, with police intercepting the suspects after they allegedly stole a dirt bike from the property.

Police were called to a home on Strzelecki Court at around 11:15 pm after reports that a group of men had gathered outside, shouting threats and demanding entry. Although they did not break into the residence, they gained access to the backyard, where they allegedly took a dirt bike and loaded it into a minibus.

Victoria Police’s Air Wing was deployed to assist, and officers soon intercepted a Ford Territory near the scene. The 49-year-old driver, believed to be connected to the group, was arrested on the spot.

Meanwhile, the minibus was pursued and brought to a halt at the intersection of South Gippsland Highway and Thompsons Road after police successfully deployed stop sticks, damaging the vehicle’s front tyres.

Three of the four men inside surrendered immediately, while the fourth attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended following a short chase.

The men, aged between 35 and 56, are currently being interviewed by detectives. Police believe the incident was targeted, though further investigations are underway.

Authorities are urging anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
