A fire has destroyed Hastings train station overnight, causing significant disruptions to the Stony Point train line.

The cause of the fire remains unclear, with authorities investigating whether it was an accident or a deliberate act. Part of the station collapsed onto the train tracks, forcing Metro Trains to close the line for safety reasons.

Metro is working to demolish the damaged section of the station to enable train services to safely resume. They are hopeful the demolition will be completed by this afternoon, but commuters should expect disruptions in the meantime.

Until further notice, trains will not stop at Hastings station. A bus replacement service is operating between Tyabb and Bittern, with a stop at Hastings to assist affected passengers.

Updates on the situation will be provided as more information becomes available.
