Victoria Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred in Pakenham early this morning, resulting in the death of a male driver.

The incident happened around 3:50 am when a vehicle travelling along Olympic Way veered off the road and crashed through the rear wall of Pakenham Supermarket. The impact caused a section of the concrete wall to collapse onto the vehicle, trapping the male driver inside.

Emergency services attended the scene, but the driver was pronounced deceased. No injuries were reported among supermarket staff who were inside the store at the time of the crash.

The circumstances leading to the crash are yet to be determined, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
