Driver Charged After Tooradin Collision Leaves Motorcyclist Fighting for Life

A 35-year-old Newport man has been charged with dangerous driving after a Tooradin crash left a motorcyclist fighting for life.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a serious crash in Tooradin on Monday evening, 20 January 2025, that left a motorcyclist fighting for his life.

The collision occurred around 6 pm on the South Gippsland Highway near the intersection of Dalmore Road. It is alleged that the driver of a BMW sedan drove into the path of a motorcycle, resulting in a severe impact.

The 39-year-old motorcyclist from Jam Jerrup sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital for urgent treatment.

The driver of the BMW, a 35-year-old Newport man, was arrested at the scene. Following questioning, he was charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury.

The man has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 22 January.
