Off-Duty Officer Seriously Injured in Seaford Hit-Run, Police Seek Dashcam Footage

A 61-year-old off-duty police officer cycling to work was seriously injured in a hit-run on the Nepean Highway in Seaford. Police are seeking dashcam footage and witnesses.

SEAFORD An off-duty police officer is in hospital with serious injuries following a hit-run collision on the Nepean Highway early Thursday morning.

The 61-year-old male officer was cycling to work when he was struck by a vehicle and left lying injured on the side of the road, north of Gould Street, just before 6am.

Emergency services responded to the scene and transported the man to hospital in a serious condition. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and left the scene.

Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives are now appealing to the public for information and dashcam footage that may assist with the investigation.

Police believe the vehicle involved will have noticeable damage to the front and left side. Detectives are urging anyone who travelled along the Nepean Highway between Frankston and Carrum around the time of the incident to review their dashcam footage.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are ongoing.
