Water Safe Again in Frankston South – $90 Credit Applied

A boil-water alert affecting 1,200 homes in Frankston South has been lifted. South East Water confirms water is safe and has issued a $90 credit per household.

Residents in Frankston South can once again drink their tap water safely after a boil-water advisory issued earlier this week was officially lifted on Wednesday morning.

The alert was triggered by a burst pipe and faulty valve, which caused a drop in water pressure and raised the risk of contamination in the supply to around 1,200 homes.

The impacted area spanned from Humphries Road to Violet Street, between Baden Powell Drive and the foreshore.

Issued at 12.30am on Monday 4 August, the advisory warned residents to boil tap water for drinking, preparing food, brushing teeth, and making baby formula.

South East Water provided bottled water from a temporary site at 7 Dunstan Street and has applied a $90 credit to each affected household’s account as compensation.

Following two days of testing, the advisory was lifted at 10.30am on Wednesday 6 August, with all water quality samples returning clear results.

“We don’t issue these advisories lightly, but the safety of our customers is always our top priority,” said Tim Lloyd, General Manager of Service Delivery at South East Water.

Residents are advised to flush their taps for five minutes before resuming normal water use.

No illnesses linked to the issue have been reported. Those experiencing symptoms such as nausea, cramps or diarrhoea are encouraged to contact a medical professional.

Customers who did not receive the advisory via SMS or email are urged to update their contact information at mysoutheastwater.com.au.
