FRANKSTON — A 52-year-old Frankston man is facing serious consequences after what began as an ill-considered parking decision quickly unravelled into far more.
At around 11.30am today, Highway Patrol officers in Frankston spotted a vehicle improperly parked in a disabled zone. On investigation, it emerged the driver did not hold a valid disabled parking permit.
But that was just the start. Checks revealed the man was disqualified from driving, and a roadside breath test allegedly returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.185% — more than three times the legal limit.
Police impounded the vehicle on the spot for 30 days, leaving the driver with an immediate out-of-pocket cost of $1,115. He will also front the Frankston Magistrates’ Court at a later date, where he can expect further penalties.
Victoria Police took the opportunity to remind motorists that disabled parking bays exist to support community members who genuinely rely on them.
“It won’t hurt you to park a little further away and walk,”
