Fatal Fire in Langwarrin Under Investigation

A person has died in a house fire on Lyppards Road, Langwarrin. Victoria Police and fire investigators are examining the cause of the early morning blaze.

Langwarrin, VIC — A person has died following a house fire in Langwarrin in the early hours of Friday morning, with emergency services responding swiftly to the scene.

Police and firefighters were called to a property on Lyppards Road just after 2:10am on 23 May, where they found the residence well alight. Three occupants were able to escape without injury.

Tragically, a fourth person was discovered deceased in a bungalow located at the rear of the property.

Victoria Police confirmed the cause of the fire remains under investigation, with an arson chemist expected to attend the site to determine the origin of the blaze. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.

The incident follows a separate fatal fire in Frankston just a day earlier. On Thursday afternoon, emergency crews were called to a unit on Franklin Court, where they found a person deceased inside. That fire is also being investigated.

  1. Absolutely horrific. Perhaps we need a new campaign about smoke detectors, where and how to install, and when to check the batteries.

    • The lady who passed at Franklin crt was in a new unit built only about 2 years ago. There are 12 units and each 1 has working smoke detectors installed. I know the owner of the units and they and the residents are extremely saddened by the loss
