CEO for Committee for Frankston and Mornington Peninsula Predicts a May Federal Election

Frankston, VIC – The CEO of the Committee for Frankston and Mornington, Josh Sinclair, has predicted that the federal government will call an election in May, highlighting the region’s significance in shaping the next government.

As political and community leaders gather for a major Election Forum to discuss the future of the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula, Sinclair emphasized that the area’s influence could translate into substantial investment across the local government areas (LGAs).

“All things considered, in my view, the election is two and a half months away,”

Sinclair stated.

Speaking to RPP FM News, Sinclair outlined how the timing of the election aligns with the government’s budget planning and campaign strategies.

“I think that gives the government a bit more time to deliver their budget, and that means they can take a budget to the federal election. I’m sure they’ll hopefully, for the government’s sake and for the region’s sake, they’ll have a few commitments that are significant, that are funded in this year’s budget,”

He said.

Sinclair stressed the importance of securing commitments for the region, ensuring that, regardless of the election outcome, Frankston and Mornington will receive federal funding and support.

“So that no matter what the election outcome is, we’ll be expecting something from the federal government this year for our region,”

Sinclair also pointed out that the opposition will have the opportunity to present its own fully funded promises to the electorate.

“Similarly, the opposition can make some promises that are funded of their own. So, I believe we’re looking at some time in May.”

With Frankston and Mornington expected to play a pivotal role in the upcoming election, community leaders and residents are keenly watching the promises made by both major parties, hoping for tangible benefits and commitments that will drive growth and development in the region.
