Merinda Day-Smith, Senior Botanist with Nature Advisory, has assured locals that the environmental assessment for the proposed $25 million upgrade of the Arthurs Seat Eagle is in capable hands.
As a Mornington Peninsula resident, Ms Day-Smith expressed her commitment to achieving positive outcomes for the community, ensuring that the area’s cherished natural environment remains a key focus.
The three-stage development, scheduled to commence late next year, includes plans for a function centre, observation tower, restaurant, and luge. The ambitious project, considered under the Planning Minister’s “project of significance” category, is expected to attract considerable attention.
“As a local myself, I know that this community holds a high value on the natural environment and so taking these considerations seriously is really important and builds that trust with the local community,”
Said Ms Day-Smith.
The upgrade promises to enhance visitor experiences at Arthurs Seat, balancing tourism growth with environmental preservation. The planning process remains ongoing, with further community consultation and environmental reviews anticipated as the project progresses.
