Police arrested 35 people in a single day during a large-scale operation targeting crime, road safety, and water safety in Frankston last month.
The Public Order Response Team, alongside local officers, Transit Police, Protective Services Officers (PSOs), Water Police, the Dog Squad, and the Mounted Branch, conducted patrols across Frankston CBD, the beach, and the railway station on Friday, 21 February.
Among the arrests:
- Three people were detained for breaching firearms prohibition orders.
- A 46-year-old was arrested for possessing a homemade firearm.
- A 17-year-old was taken into custody for aggravated burglary.
In addition to the arrests, police issued 12 penalty notices for water, traffic, and weapons offences.
The operation also included an anti-shoplifting focus at Bayside Shopping Centre, where local Frankston police reported a particularly busy day dealing with retail theft.A social media user commenting on the Frankston Eyewatch Police Service Facebook post was surprised by the scale of the operation, asking,
“Is that in one day?”
Police confirmed,
“Yes, that was 35 people arrested on that one day, Friday 21st Feb.”
Authorities say similar targeted operations will continue to curb crime and improve public safety in the area.
