13-Year-Old Girl Arrested Over Hastings Train Station Blaze

A 13-year-old girl has been arrested in connection with the Hastings Railway Station fire. Train services have resumed with a temporary bench in place.

A 13-year-old girl has been arrested in connection with the fire that destroyed Hastings Railway Station on 21st December 2024.

Detectives from the Transit Divisional Response Unit interviewed the girl, who is from Melbourne’s South Metro region. She has been released, with police indicating she may face charges pending further investigation.

The fire caused significant damage to the station, leading to part of the structure collapsing onto the tracks and disrupting train services. Authorities have since demolished what remained of the train station, cleared the debris, constructed a temporary bench, and resumed train services along the Stony Point line.

The investigation remains ongoing. Police urge anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online.
