Multiple Arrests on Mornington Peninsula Streets Over the Weekend

Mornington Peninsula – Victoria Police have made multiple arrests over the weekend in response to separate serious incidents across the Mornington Peninsula, including an alleged kidnapping in Mornington and a violent assault linked to an aggravated burglary in Hastings.

Mornington Kidnapping: Two Charged

Detectives have charged a man and a woman following an alleged kidnapping in Mornington on February 20.

According to police, a 26-year-old ride-share driver was stopped on Mornington-Tyabb Road at around 8:30 pm by a man and woman seeking a fare. Once inside the vehicle, the pair allegedly threatened the driver with a knife and forced him to drive to an address on Joffre Street, Noble Park, before leaving the scene. The driver was not physically harmed.

Following an investigation, police executed a warrant at a property on Cooba Court, Mornington, arresting a 34-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man. Both have been charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, theft, and assault-related offenses. They were remanded in custody and will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on March 4.

Hastings Assault and Aggravated Burglary: One Man Arrested

In a separate case, police have arrested a 35-year-old man following an alleged assault in Hastings and an aggravated burglary in Tuernong.

On November 2, 2024, officers responded to reports of a man allegedly being doused in flammable liquid and chased by two individuals holding a blow torch on Simon Street, Hastings. The victim sustained minor injuries.

Detectives later linked one of the alleged offenders to an aggravated burglary in Tuernong on February 4, 2025. In this incident, a BMW sedan was allegedly stolen from a property on Stump Gully Road at approximately 2:15 am. The property owner was reportedly struck by the vehicle while trying to prevent the theft, sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

On February 27, 2025, police located the suspect at a disused refinery on The Esplanade, Crib Point. Officers from the Air Wing, Dog Squad, and drone unit assisted in the arrest.

The 35-year-old man has been charged with reckless conduct endangering life, reckless conduct causing serious injury, assault, aggravated burglary, and other related offenses. He has been remanded to appear at the Frankston Magistrates’ Court on March 3.

Police Investigations Continue

Victoria Police continue to investigate the incidents and have urged anyone with further information to come forward.
